Hi, I’m Kasey.
When I founded On The Edge Wordsmithing (nee On The Edge Proofreading) in 2023, it was solely a transcript proofreading business for court reporters. I’ve always loved storytelling via the written word and had a propensity for helping others bring their stories to life.
I have:
Two bachelor’s degrees from the University of Montana: one in English with an emphasis in creative writing and literary fiction and another in journalism. I also have a minor in women’s, gender, and sexuality studies
Almost a decade of journalistic, fiction, and academic writing experience.
Six years of experience proofreading and editing articles, blog posts, social media content, website content and short stories.
Taken a course from the Transcript Proofreading Academy in transcript proofreading for court reporters. I also have proofread thousands of pages of transcripts.
Taken a course from Filthy Rich Writer in copy writing.
Scriptwriting and script reading experience. I’ve also acted in numerous plays, and worked on the crew, so I’ve experience a theatrical production from all sides.
Why me?
I’m just a freelancer, sitting in front of a screen, asking unknown creatives and professionals to let her tell their story.
I'm not just a journalist and editor with six years of experience, I'm a Swiss Army knife. Need pictures taken on the fly? Got it. Need something designed in Canva quickly? I'm your gal. Need 1,000 words on how to use and not to use AI on a 24-hour turnaround? Sure thing. That newsletter isn't quite landing and you don't know why? I'll help you.
I have an attention for detail so finely tuned that it gets annoying. If there's an extra space between words, a name spelled two different ways or a formatting issue, I've already spotted it. I have a strong understanding of both the AP Style guide and Chicago Manual of Style. I'm also literally bursting with ideas. My brain is powered on caffeine and always working.
